“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
Shlama milya min khooba,
Prayers and blessings receive. I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ. May this letter find you in the best of health and happiness.
In the month of May we at St. Mary’s will be celebrating our faith, heritage, culture and nationality. On Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th of May we will gather on our Holy grounds united in one effort to show who and what we are. Our history will be introduced through the writings that will be distributed, our ethnicity will be tasted by the food we will serve, our culture will be seen in the dances we will perform, our faith will be displayed through the church tour that people will take and the story of Assyria will be told in the parade that we will present.
This festival is a tribute to our great ancestors, whom the museums of the modern world speak of. It was through unity they were able to build such a great empire. Their loyalty and dedication to one another allowed them to become a great nation. What have we now? We must question ourselves and look for answers and reasons for our circumstances as a nation.
As the body of Christ we must live according to the scriptures. When we do so, we will find ourselves as a nation united in love and woven by faith. Dedicating ourselves to each other for the greater cause. Festivals will come and go, and the years will pass; but unless transformation comes upon us each as individuals, Assyria will cease to exist.
I would like to thank the many volunteers that have made this festival what it is. Without their sacrifice and dedication this would not be possible.
In His Service,
Father George Bet Rasho
